YVRSHOOT: Magic Makes a Mess in Fort Langley for ONCE UPON A TIME 2×02 – Updated

If you didn’t know that magic is coming to Storybrooke in season two of Once Upon a Time, then you haven’t been paying attention. The producers have said so. But what they failed to mention is what a mess magic would make of the town in episode two. Storybrooke — played by Fort Langley east of Vancouver today – is a disaster zone with blown-out windows in the Town Hall, posters of The Missing covering the town boards, an upside-down smashed vehicle, a fire truck and fire fighters and a populace in relief mode handing out blankets, bottles of water and toilet paper.

Here’s Meghan Ory’s Red Riding Hood/Bad Wolf bringing blankets to Keegan Connor Tracy’s Blue Fairy.

And Josh Dallas is acting a lot more like take-charge Prince Charming than wishy-washy David now that the curse is broken.

This is the first time I’ve seen David Anders in the mix — I can’t wait to find out who his fairy tale character is in the second season.

Raphael Sbarge’s Archie had a clip board.

Jared Gilmore’s Henry was there too for one of the master disaster relief scenes but not his mother — Jennifer Morrison’s Emma Swan  – or his grandmother — Ginnifer Goodwin’s Snow White.

And where’s Robert Carlyle’s Rumplestiltskin and his better half, Emilie de Ravin’s Belle — a couple now known as RumBelle.

This is going to be confusing with all the fairy tale characters knowing who they really are. I also spotted Lee Arenberg’s Grumpy of the Seven Dwarves and Tony Amendola’s Gepetto.

Also on hand were two set security guards, one of whom I remember from the season one finale shoot in Steveston. He’s a great big, intimidating guy for those deemed unwelcome but couldn’t be friendlier with the fans. I saw him and other crew arrange photo ops for fans with Jared Gilmore, David Anders and others. Once Upon a Time certainly didn’t disappoint on its first location shoot of season two.

Update: Lana Parrilla’s Evil Queen was on set for the early morning scene on a bench near the Town Hall and met with her Evil Regal  fans, according to Tara who lives in the area.

  1. Tara says:

Lana Parilla was there in the morning filming on the side of the hall on a bench. I was one of those fans who got to meet and take photos with the cast and I must say that they were the nicest, most friendly cast and crew that I have met.

Ah, the early morning scene that I missed. I heard she was there and met with fans. Once Upon a Time is one of a kind. Fringe is good to its fans too but not in such an organized way involving the whole cast.

Yes I was one of those lucky fans who got to meet Lana. While everyone was busy watching the front, I had gone digging around and found out she was there. Got to watch her for a good 2hrs or so this morning. She then came over and signed my sketch book, got bday gifts from 2 other fans I met today, and took pics with all of us. She is the sweetest, kindest woman ever. Genuine. Absolutely genuine.

Where are Ginnifer Goodwin and Jennifer Morrison? Dont have Pistures with them too?

    • Susan Gittins - YVRShoots says:

Ginnifer Goodwin and Jennifer Morrison weren’t on set yesterday. I wish I had seen them and it’s strange that they weren’t part of this big scene.

Debra: How to find out where Once Upon a Time is filming.
There is a hashtag on Twitter called #yvrshoots where people in Vancouver post sightings of different productions filming in the area. A couple of people who live in Fort Langley tweeted that they saw Once Upon a Time turning the village into Storybrooke on Monday. So we assumed they’d be filming there on Tuesday.
Today Once Upon a Time is said to be filming in New Westminster but I don’t know exactly where yet. Probably the Mayor’s house but that’s a guess.
It’s tough to find Once Upon a Time filming on location (especially the fairy tale world scenes) even for people who live here. We don’t usually find out more than a day in advance but when it works out it’s wonderful for the fans.

  5. I stopped by too and it was so magical to see them all filming!

They were super friendly to us too – lots of waves and smiles. I was very impressed.

Thanks for all the tips & information! Hopefully we’ll see them again somewhere soon.
