YVRSHOOT: ONCE UPON A TIME’s Dr. Whale Mob in Steveston for S2 Premiere

The curse is broken in Storybrooke so all the fairy tale characters know who they really are on Once Upon a Time. And they’re mad as hell at the Evil Queen/Regina who took away their happy endings. So mad that Dr. Whale (David Anders) whips a mob into a frenzy and they head to Regina’s house to kill her.

The mob ran south from the alley beside Steveston Coffee across Moncton Street into the alley beside Mr. Gold’s and Dave’s Fish & Chips in take after take. “You’re a terrible mob,” laughed Anders, after the first rehearsal.

Emma (Jennifer Morrison) is determined to stop the mob. They’re not murderers, she argues. And her son Henry (Jared Gilmore) cares about his adoptive mother Regina.  ”She’s still my Mom,” he declares. They chase after the mob down a seemingly empty Moncton Street, which actually has pockets of fans watching out of camera range. It was a fun evening of filming.

While it looks like Regina’s house is somewhere on the Steveston fishing docks, it’s actually in New Westminster, with a neighbour who protests how much filming Once Upon a Time does there by mowing his lawn loudly during takes, no mattter how often he’s asked not to. Kudos to the sound people because I didn’t hear a trace of lawnmower in tonight’s season two premiere.
