Canada’s most popular murder mystery returned Monday night with more season seven cases, but it will be hard to top the period drama’s crossover episode last November called Republic of Murdoch. In it, Toronto detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) followed an early 20th century ancestor of Republic of Doyle’s private detective Jake Doyle (Allan Hawco) back to his home in Newfoundland.

Murdoch Mysteries will cross over this month, with a  21st century descendant (Bisson) of Murdoch’s appearing on Republic of Doyle.

On Monday night’s episode, Midnight Train to Kingston, a convicted murderer created havoc on the train to his hanging. In later outings, nefarious government agent Terrence Meyers (Peter Keleghan) is back to thwart Murdoch and Dr. Julia Ogden (Helene Joy) joins Dr. Emily Grace (Georgina Reilly) for a bachelorette party on a haunted island. Plus there will be two new female characters dropping by — an adventurer (Lauren Lee Smith) and a confidence artist (Wendy Crewson).

Great acting, interesting scripts and lots of fun and laughs!. Am slightly disturbed at the horrific rate of murders(one a night!) in Toronto in the early years, but we are all safe with gorgeous William to detect and apprehend the offenders! well done to all cast crew and especially writers. We love it here in Australia, and are enjoying the new series..
