Does Hugh Dillon look scary in these photos? He doesn’t because this is a meetup with fan Julie Holden, but the actor-musician (The Headstones) has a formidable presence on screen. You don’t want to mess with hard-ass death-row prison guard Francis Becker on The Killing or the mysterious Mr. Escher of Piron Corp. on Continuum, his two recurring roles in Vancouver this year. Dillon goes toe-to-toe head-to-head with Peter Sarsgaard’s death-row inmate Ray Seward on The Killing but one of the most disturbing scenes for me was not guard versus inmate but Becker giving his son a tour of the gallows where Seward will be hanged. I had Becker pegged early on as a suspect in the street kid killings but [...]
Sunday, July 7th – Vancouver-cop-from-the-future series Continuum 2×09 Seconds airs on Showcase: Alec (Erik Knudsen)’s mother is shot by a bullet meant for Julian (Richard Harmon), who goes on the run. And a workhouse from the corporate-controlled future makes me want to join Liber8 if they weren’t just as ruthless in their methods. Sunday, July 7th – The Killing 3×07 Hope Kills airs on AMC.: Linden (Mireille Enos) and Holder (Joel Kinnaman) find a new suspect and stop on Main Street so that Holder can buy a slice (Hawaiian – no bacon). Death-row convict Seward (Peter Sarsgaard) fights his impending execution. Sunday, July 7th – Falling Skies 3×06 airs on TNT. Charleston’s government threatened when group breaks away. And more of [...]
Sunday, June 23rd – The Killing 3×05 Scared and Running airs on AMC: Bullet (Bex Taylor Klaus) works with Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos) and Stephen Holder (Joel Kinnaman) to find girl on the run before killer does; Seward (Peter Sarsgaard) isn’t happy to see his son’s adoptive mother. Sunday, June 23rd – Falling Skies 3×04 At All Costs airs on TNT. President meets President. Sunday, June 23rd – Godzilla‘s main unit films in Vancouver’s Business District for second day on Everleigh Street off Thurlow and then the 1000 block of West Hastings (Oceanic Plaza) dressed as San Francisco BART station. Elizabeth Olsen on set under rain tower again but this time in action scene. 2nd unit films returns to debris-strewn [...]
Published June 23, 2013 on Vancouver is Awesome Season three of The Killing introduces us to a darker, seedier part of Seattle called “The Jungle” where teenage runaways earn money by hopping into stranger’s cars for “dates”. They’re the type of victims who can go missing for days, weeks, months or years and no one notices until detective Stephen Holder (Joel Kinnaman) catches the case of a dead teen working girl and contacts his former partner Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos) because he sees a connection to a case from her past. She resists but this is who she is and her private investigation leads to a pond of rotting corpses in biohazard bags. 17 teen victims and counting. Who’s the monster killing [...]
The Killing almost went unnoticed filming its season 3 finale in the 2100 block of Napier Street in east Vancouver on Friday. A few people stopped and stared for a bit but fans didn’t find the shoot until mid-afternoon. A prop Seattle police squad car and two unmarked ones lined the residential neighbourhood for scenes of our detective duo Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos) and Stephen Holder (Joel Kinnaman) meeting Lieutenant James Skinner (Elias Koteas) , head of Seattle’s Special Investigations Unit and Linden’s former lover, on site. Is this the house of a suspect? Or a victim’s parents? We’ll have to wait and see. Crew said there wasn’t anything spoilery about the day’s shoot but to watch out for episode [...]
Holder has a girlfriend. And she’s sticking around. The Killing filmed scenes on Wednesday of detective Stephen Holder (Joel Kinnaman in his Holder hoodie) meeting his season three Assistant District Attorney girlfriend Caroline (Jewel Staite) on the level five walkway of the Vancouver Public Library’s curtain wall. He waits for her on a bench, approaches her and they have looooong talk with lots of endearing Holderisms I’m sure, because he’s smiling and at one point hugs her and then later kisses her. Best moment from this couple so far: Holder’s “hot” tat Serenity, a nod to Jewel Staite’s role on the Joss Whedon space western Firefly.
Fresh off its season three premiere last Sunday, The Killing filmed scenes of Adrian ( Rowan Longworth) with a soccer ball, leaving the school grounds at Kerrisdale Elementary in Vancouver. It took a while to clue in that this boy with hair was Fringe’s Anomaly XB-6783746. When I complimented him on his bald Fringe performance, he took it in stride as any child Observer would. Update: But who is Rowan Longworth on The Killing? Adrian is death row convict Ray Seward (Peter Sarsgaard)’s son, the one who stayed with his mother’s corpse for six days and drew the “Picasso drawing” of a grove of trees which haunts Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos). When Linden visits him at his foster home, she [...]
The Killing’s detective duo Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos) and Stephen Holder (Joel Kinnaman) reunite a year after the Rosie Larsen case when the death of a working girl connects to a previous investigation of Linden’s. Is someone killing Seattle street kids? 17 victims and counting. Street kid regulars led by Twitch (Max Fowler). Below a Joel Kinnaman look that AMC has dubbed Smolder instead of Holder.
The Killing shared a new season three image of Seattle detective duo Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos) and Stephen Holder (Joel Kinnaman) on its facebook page today. Related: Mireille Enos & Joel Kinnaman film The Killing on Main Street Season Three should be renamed The Killings — plural. Events take place a year after the arrest of Rosie Larsen’s killer when Holder looks into the death of a working girl. That leads to an old investigation by his former police partner Linden, who’s no longer a detective. Is there a Seattle serial killer who preys on street kids? 17 deaths and counting. Only a monster like this could draw Linden back into a new case. The featured street kids (Cate Sproule, [...]
